Katie Lucila Cassady

Catalina "Katie" Lucila Cassady was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister, cousin, aunt, and friend who peacefully passed away in Port Huron, Michigan on the morning of February 8th, 2022 at the age of 85. Katie was born in Taos, New Mexico in 1937 and moved to Algonac, Michigan in 1965. She spent her working years at Henry's Restaurant, and retired from Mercy Hospital. Furthermore, Katie was a reading enthusiast who loved books, enjoyed collecting Precious Moments keepsakes, and had a creative knack for ceramics. Katie was the dearest mother of her late daughter Christine (William) Brisse. In addition, she is preceded in death by her parents Jose and Cleotilda Rael, her husband Carl Cassady, her sisters Virginia Abeyta and Nila Cordova, and her brother Adolfo Rael. She is survived by her son Tom (Cathy) Cassady of Fort Gratiot, Michigan; grandchildren Craig (Erin) Cassady of Fort Gratiot, Michigan; Hillary (Joel) Houghton of Raleigh, North Carolina; Amanda (Ethan) Troy of Colorado Springs, Colorado; Krystal (Dax) Gomez of Shelby Township, Michigan; Bobby Brisse of Oak Park, Michigan; and Ryan Brisse of Shelby Township, Michigan. Also, she is survived by her beautiful great grandchildren: Connor, Liam, and Brynn Cassady; Ian, Isaac, and Thea Mae Houghton; Alexander Troy; Vaughn and Viviana Gomez; and Benjamin and Liam Brisse. In addition, Katie is survived by her siblings: Lupita Rivera of Taos, New Mexico; Robin McCarthy of San Francisco, California; and Johnny Parada of Palm Desert, California. Also, she is survived by her sister-in-law Arlene Cranston and son Alan Whitehead; her niece Lenora (Tim) Fiorani; and her nephew Kevin Highstreet. Furthermore, she is survived by her special nieces and their families in San Diego, California: Sherri Layton and Terry LaForce, and a kind and caring neighbor Jeff Blumenschien. A celebration of life will be held at 1:00 PM Thursday March 3, 2022 in the Algonac Church of Christ, 1601 St. Clair River Drive, Algonac, Michigan. 48001.
