Marcella Maye Roberts

Marcella Maye Roberts age 86 of Clay Twp., MI passed away February 20, 2021 in her home, surrounded by her loving family. Marcella was born January 4, 1935 in New Baltimore, MI. to the late Edward and Eleanor (Bethuy) Schmidt and enjoyed a full, enriched and impactful life. She married Arthur T. Roberts on February 27, 1954 in New Baltimore. Marcella is a 1953 graduate of Anchor Bay High School . Early on, Marcella was a Cub Scout Den Mother for many of the areas young boys, including her own. Marcella was also a member of the St. Mary's Queen of Creation Women Sodality , of New Baltimore. She was also an active member of the New Baltimore Civic Club, along with her husband, where she enjoyed many events and activities. Marcella is well known for her compassionate support of all. Many of her traits have been expressed through her ownership of an antique store along with her substantial cookie jar collection - always a topic of discussion! True to and consistent with her love of flowers, she expressed those same traits with her friends, family and strangers as well. Many lives have been cultivated and touched for the better by Marcella's gentle force of character. As a loving wife, mother, grandmother, foster parent, gardener, civic servant and friend, Marcellas memory will continue. Marcella is survived by her husband Arthur, children; Arthur Roberts Jr., Linda (Ronald) Mermuys, Laura (Thomas) Neuner, and Robert Roberts, grandchildren; Christopher Mermuys, Daniel Mermuys, Thomas "Tommy" Neuner, Michael Mermuys, Justin Neuner, Clinton Neuner, Veronica Roberts, Audrey Roberts and Stephanie Roberts, siblings; Elaine (Charles) Roth and Cecilia (Jesse) Emerick, Godson; Jim Emerick and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by an infant son Edward . Marcella will be instate at 9:15 AM, with mass at 10:00 AM Wednesday February 24, 2021 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Anchorville, MI. Burial will be in the St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, New Baltimore. Arrangements by the Gilbert Funeral Home, Algonac, MI.
