Arthur Theo Roberts' Obituary
Arthur T. Roberts age 92 of Clay Twp., MI passed away November 9, 2023 in the McLaren Macomb Hospital. He was born September 25, 1931 in Detroit, MI to the late Glen and Amy (nee Lewis) Roberts. He married Marcella Maye Schmidt on February 27, 1954 in New Baltimore, MI she passed away February 20, 2021.
Mr. Roberts was a Korean War Veteran having served with the US Air Force. He retired from Awrey Bakery in Livonia, MI in 1990. He was a life member of the New Baltimore Civic Club. Art played on many different bowling leagues since 1948 until his most recent, “The Thursday Night Misfit League”, at Premier Lanes in New Baltimore until age of 89.
Art was an avid Detroit Sports fan enjoying the Tigers, Redwings, Lions, and U of M Football. In his younger years he enjoyed working at his dad’s marina “Roberts Boat Livery” in New Baltimore, hunting, fishing, playing hockey and basketball.
Mr. Roberts is survived by his children Arthur T. Roberts Jr., Linda (Ronald) Mermuys, Laura (Thomas) Neuner, and Robert Roberts, 9 grandchildren, 1 great grandson, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by an infant son Edward, brothers Glenn Roberts and Orville Roberts.
Mr. Roberts will be instate at 10:00 AM with mass at 11:00 AM Tuesday December 5, 2023 in the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Anchorville, MI. Visitation 4: 00 to 7:00 PM, with Rosary at 6:30 PM, Monday December 4, 2023 in the Young Gilbert Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc. Algonac, MI. Burial, with military honors, will be in the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, New Baltimore, MI.
