Barbara Laparl's Obituary
A journey’s end…. With hearts full of love and deep sadness, we announce the passing of Barbara LaParl, a beloved wife, mother, cherished Nana and Mimi. She was surrounded by her family when she peacefully earned her wings on Saturday, February 22, 2025. Barbara was with her daughters in Florida at the time of her death.
Barbara loved and cherished her home on the St. Clair River. Barb’s life was marked by joy, unconditional love, kindness, quiet strength and resilience. Barb married her late husband, Ralph LaParl, with whom she shared a love story. Together they built a beautiful life with over 70 years of marriage and memories. They started a family rooted in perseverance, love and kindness. Her dedication to her family remained the guiding force in her life. She raised five children and later welcomed 13 grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Barb proudly held the title of Nana, a title she wore like a crown. Whether cheering from the sidelines, baking favorite treats, playing games, listening with full attention or offering the perfect advice at just the right moment she shared a deep connection, held a great affection and enjoyed time well spent with her grandchildren. Barbara made sure her grandkids always knew they were her world. Her pride in her family was boundless. She taught us all how to love unconditionally, laugh, and never underestimate the power of a good piece of chocolate. Though we will miss her immensely we take comfort knowing she is reunited with her high school sweetheart and husband Ralph. She missed Ralph so very much that her strength and fighting spirit that defined her life was at the end and she knew it was time to let go of this life. Her family is so profoundly grateful for the time and love spent with her. Her loss is deeply felt, and her memory will always be a source of strength. Barbara loved with all her heart and that is how she will be remembered. As we mourn her loss, we celebrate the incredible life she lived and the indelible mark she left on our hearts.
She is survived by her sons Robert LaParl and Rich (Ruthann) LaParl. Daughters – Deb (Rob) Sadlowski, Wendy Gordon, and Tracey (Rob) Rekar.
A family graveside service will be held in the Oaklawn Cemetery, Algonac. Arrangements by the Young Gilbert Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Algonac, MI.
