Betty J. Engel-Ferdinande
Age 84 of Clay Twp. died Dec. 16, 2006 in the U of M Hospital, Ann Arbor. She was born Sept. 18, 1922 in Detroit.
Betty was married to Albert H. Engel in Detroit for 39 years, he died in 1985. She was married to Louis Ferdinande in Algonac for 12 years, he died in 1995.
She was a member of the St. Catherine's Catholic Church, Algonac. She was a pass member of the Altar Rosary Society, Daughters of Isabelle, Belgian/American Club Ladies Auxillary and the F.O.E. of Fair Haven. She was an active member of the Senior Center in Cherry Beach.
Betty enjoyed crocheting and reading. She looked forward to visits with family and friends and she loved to travel. She was an inspiration to all who knew her and she will be dearly missed.
Survived by Daughter Pat (Tex) Acre, Son Henry (Charmaine) Engel, Step children Dick (Gerri) Ferdinande, Larry Ferdinande, Melvin (Carol) Ferdinande, Marilyn (Tom) Schwaller and Joseph (Jan) Ferdinande. A Sister Lois View. 19 Grandchildren and 21 Great Grandchildren, many Nieces and Nephews. Also survived by special friends Virginia Burgett, Beth Engel, and Bernard Zavitz.
Predeceased by her Brother Harry Kersten and a Sister Lillian Whitmore.
Funeral services 12:00 PM Wednesday December 20, 2006 in the Gilbert Funeral Home, Algonac. Officiating Fr. Timothy Birney. Visitation in the funeral home Tuesday 1-4 & 6-9 PM.
