Calvin David Matthews
age 89 of Algonac, MI. died September 30, 2014 with his family by his side. He was born May 23, 1925 in Detroit, MI. to the late Stanley and Lillian Matthews. He married Dolores E. Lynch on October 2, 1959 in Detroit.
Calvin served with the U. S. Navy during WW II. He graduated from Detroit Tech and went on to become an architectural designer of both residential and commercial buildings in and around Detroit, his love was doing authentic unique homes.
Mr. Matthews is survived by his wife Dolores, children Laurel (Jay) Lechnyr, Melissa, and Janis (Daniel) Liu, grandchildren Laura, Calvin, Abigael, Ethan, and Brynn, and a sister Carolyn (Robert) Cameron.
Funeral services 1:00 PM Saturday October 4, 2014 in the Trinity United Methodist Church of Algonac. Visitation 1-4 & 6-9 PM Friday in the Gilbert Funeral Home, Algonac. Burial will be in the Oaklawn Cemetery, Algonac. Memorial donations would be appreciated to the Trinity United Methodist Church, or to the Donor's choice.
