Donnie R. Davis' Obituary
Donnie R. Davis, age 69, of Canton, passed away peacefully on May 13, 2026 surrounded by family.. He was born on October 7, 1956 to the late James and Dorothy Davis. Donnie married Rosemary E. Oliver in 1988 who preceded him in death on September 29, 1999. Donnie worked as a carpenter for many years. He was an incredibly talented craftsman. Whether it was rebuilding homes, designing costumes, or his amazing woodworking, he was a true artist. He took great pride in his work. Donnie found his peace in nature. Whether it was walking trails, fishing with his family, or going for a picnic, as long as he was outdoors, he was happy. Donnie’s passion for the outdoors led to numerous family camping trips and almost annual vacations to the Smoky Mountains. Family was everything to Donnie. He would do anything for his children, especially his grandchildren. He put his family’s needs before his own, and took pride in caring for his loved ones. His selflessness, calm demeanor, yet large sense of humor and practical jokes, will be missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his children, Mark (Laura) Wenglasz, Kelly (Clyde) Smith, Jason (Iffa) Davis, Nicole (Jeremy) Doher; grandchildren, Chantelle, Mason (Sarah), Jay (Jess), Morgan, Remy, Riley, Zain, River; 4 great grandchildren; siblings, Jimmy (Carol) Barrells, Fred (Mary) Davis, Brenda Freeman, Ron (Mary) Davis, Stan Davis, Larry (Patty) Davis, Glenn (Barb) Davis.
He is preceded in death by his beloved granddaughter, Amara Davis.
A funeral service will take place on Friday, May 22nd at 11:00 a.m. at Young-Gilbert Funeral Home, Algonac. Visiting hours will be on Thursday, May 21st from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Interment at Oaklawn Cemetery, Clay Twp. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the wishes of the family.
