Doreen Mae Barretta's Obituary
Sweet, sweet, Doreen Mae Dreger Barretta, a caring and generous wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, great aunt, sister, and friend departed this life peacefully for her journey to the afterlife on Saturday, September 24th at 4:33 in the afternoon with her son Nicky and daughter in law Melissa at her bedside, in the comfort of her own home on the Saint Clair River in Algonac, Michigan.
Doreen was born in Detroit on December 30th, 1944, to Edward and Marie Dreger and grew up with her siblings Richard, Edie, and David. After graduating from Osborn High School in 1963, she married Nick Barretta. Doreen dedicated the rest of her life to being a fantastic mother to her only son, Nicholas Donald.
The last 28 years of her life she spent in a partnership with Al Rossi and loved his daughter Alaina as her own. Doreen cherished her grandchildren, Jack, Noah, Navaeh, and Bridgette very much.
Doreen loved to play golf and card games. She was happiest when she was surrounded by nature, taking care of lovely plants and flower gardens and sitting by the river, watching all the boats go by. Her kindness, tenderness, and generosity were unending. We will miss her greatly.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Arrangements by the Gilbert Funeral Home, Algonac, MI.
