Doris Ann Jackson's Obituary
Doris Ann Jackson, age 75, of Harsens Island, MI, passed away February 3, 2023.
Mrs. Jackson was born April 12, 1947, to the late John and Charlotte (Higgins) Brennan in Brooklyn, NY. After graduating from Wayne Valley High School in Wayne, NJ, she went on to study English at Western Kentucky University where she was a member of the Delta Tau chapter of Phi Mu Fraternity. She met her loving husband, Lon Jackson, during her years at WKU. They eventually moved to Michigan where she received a Master's degree in Library Science from Wayne State University. She spent over thirty years as a high school English teacher. After retiring to Harsens Island with her husband, she became an active member of the community and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
Doris is survived by her husband of 45 years, Lon, her daughter Jennifer (Justin) Rathke grandchildren Caroline Rathke and John Rathke, nephew Donald Brennan, great niece Grace Brennan, and a great nephew Jackson Brennan.
In lieu of a formal service, a Celebration of Doris' Life will be held later date this summer on Harsens Island. Memorial donations may be made to the Reader's Cove Library, where she loved to take her grandchildren, 3064 South Channel Drive, Harsens Island, MI 48028.
