Frederick "Fritz" Streit's Obituary
Frederick "Fritz" Streit age 70, formerly of Algonac, MI. passed away September 22, 2022, in his Ira Twp., MI. home, with his beloved wife Kathie, and faithful boxer, Miggy, by his side. Fritz was born September 22, 1952, in Owosso, MI. to the late Dr. John and Esther (nee Riemenschneider) Streit. He married Kathie M. Dickerson on October 5, 2001, in Waterford, MI.
Fritz graduated from Algonac High School in 1970, he received his bachelor's degree from Oakland University, and his masters' degree from Central Michigan University. He was employed by Health Management Systems of America (HMSA) in Detroit, MI.
Fritz's approach to life in many ways mirrored his career as a social worker. He was laid back, good-natured and always willing to listen with an empathetic ear. Fritz was always surrounded by a multitude of friends and family, dogs, and even the occasional rabbit.
Fritz is survived by his wife Kathie, children Britany (Dan) Levin and Nick (Sarah) DePorre, grandchildren Jackson DePorre, Lincoln DePorre, Hayden Levin, and Rory Levin, siblings Ed (Elyse) Streit, David (Jennifer) Streit, and Elizabeth Streit, stepmother Nancy Streit, stepbrothers Thomas E. Besemer and David (Kathryn) Besemer, nieces and nephews Geoff, Rob, Rebecca and Elizabeth, and numerous cousins.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday September 27, 2022, in the Gilbert Funeral Home, Algonac. Visitation 4:00 to 8:00 PM Monday and 10:00 AM until time-of-service Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Wounded Warriors Project, http://support.woundedwarriorprojet.org.
