Gretta J. Mallender's Obituary
Gretta J. Mallender age 91 of Clay Twp., MI. died September 23, 2019 in the McLaren Port Huron Hospital. She was born September 24, 1928 in Algonac, MI. to the late Capt. George and Mable (nee Drouillard) Cole. She married Herbert C. Mallender on November 9, 1946 in Algonac. He died July 4, 2019.
Gretta was an active member of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church of Algonac, a life-member of the Algonac Lioness Club, a member of the Algonac-Clay Twp. Historical Society, and was an avid card player.
Mrs. Mallender is survived by her children, Michele (Daniel) Bevins, H. Kenneth Mallender, Mary (Lloyd) Lewis, and Margaret (Robert) Blakely, 6 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren, and many, many, dear friends. She was preceded in death by 4 brothers and 4 sisters.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday October 12, 2019 in the St. Matthew United Church of Christ, 8052 Chapin Rd. Casco Twp., MI 48064 (Adair). Visitation 10:00 AM until time of service Saturday at the church. Arrangements by the Gilbert Funeral Home, Algonac.
