Hermann Erwing Christoph's Obituary
Hermann “Chris” Erwing Christoph age 78 of Algonac, MI. passed away January 21, 2024 in the McLaren Port Huron Hospital. He was born May 24, 1945 in Detroit, MI to the late Hermann F. and Erika (Janke) Christoph. He married Marsha Jane Die Swader on December 10, 1977 in the Trinity Lutheran Church, Utica, MI.
Mr. Christoph served with the U S Army during the Vietnam War, and was awarded the Purple Heart. He was employed by Bundy Tubing from 1969 to 1979 and the US Postal Service from 1979 to 2010. He was a member of the Metro West Steel Headers-Livonia Chapter, and the Bay Harbor Boat Club, Fair Haven, MI. He was an active member of the Living Faith Lutheran Church, Marine City, MI.
Chris is survived by his wife Marsha, children Margaret Christoph MacDonald, and David (Pam) Swader, a sister Elfriede (Howard) Mottin, granddaughter Sophia Swader, grandson Connor MacDonald and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral services with military honors, will be held at 11:00 Friday, January 26, 2024 in the Living Faith Lutheran Church, 310 South Parker St. Marine City, MI 48039. Visitation 3:00 to 7:00 PM Thursday in the Young Gilbert Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Inc., Algonac and 10:00 AM until time of service at 11:00 AM Friday in the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to the Living Faith Lutheran Church, Marine City.
