Howard L. Jackson
age 91 of Algonac, MI. died September 14, 2014 in the River Edge AFC. He was born July 22, 1923 in Detroit, MI. He married Phoebe Ann Butterfield on October 23, 1948 in Almont, MI., she died December 2, 1993.
Mr. Jackson was a WWII U.S. Army Veteran. He received his Bachelor's degree from Eastern Michigan University and his Master's degree from Wayne State University. He was a teacher and principal in the Algonac School System for 35 years, retiring in1984. He was a member of the Pearl Beach Lions for 56 years and a life member of the S. Ward Masonic Lodge of F&AM. He was a former Algonac City Councilman, City Mayor, and served as a St. Clair County Commissioner. He was a volunteer at the River District Hospital for over 22 years. He lived a blessed life of service to others.
Mr. Jackson is survived by his daughters Sally (Bob) Lang and Ann (Dave) Crimmins, grandchildren Nathan (Sherry) Vajda, Michelle (Andy) Prais, Michael (Stefanie ) Seaman, Emily Vajda, Jason (Alena) Crimmins, Julie (Eric) Drews, Lisa (Tommy) Herrmann, Heather Lang, and Kellie Lang, and 10 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday September 19, 2014 in the Gilbert Funeral Home, Algonac. Visitation 1-4 & 6-9 PM Thursday. Burial will be in the Oaklawn Cemetery, Algonac. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Leader Dog for the Blind or to the Pearl Beach Lions.
