James Gordon Russell's Obituary
James G. Russell age 87 of Cottrellville Twp., MI passed away February 20, 2024 in the Medilodge of St. Clair. He was born November 26, 1937 in Algonac, MI to the late Gordon and Margaret (Buchanan) Russell.
Jim was a 1955 graduate of Algonac High School, were he played all sports, he then went on to attend the University of Detroit. He served 2 years with the U. S. Army where he became a member of the U. S. Army football team and was able to enjoy extensive traveling with the team. Jim was a member of the Iron Workers Union, Carpenters Union and Mill Wright Union 1102. He enjoyed swimming and boating in the St. Clair River and visiting Harsens Island.
Jim is survived by half-sisters Rosalind Lucas and Elizabeth Russell, cousin Harry Friske, and many nieces, nephews, and lifetime friends.
A small gravesite committal service, per Jim’s request, has taken place in the Oaklawn Cemetery, Algonac.
