John Max Geml's Obituary
John Max Geml, age 97, formerly of Algonac, MI. passed away August 24, 2022, in the Michigan Veterans Home Chesterfield Twp., MI. He was born July 6, 1925 in Detroit, MI. to the late Max and Elizabeth (Thurjung) Geml. He married Doris Edith Sobson on November 28, 1953, in Angola, IN. she passed away January 24, 2008.
John was a WW II US Army Veteran and a Purple Heart recipient. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He enjoyed the outdoors, riding his tractors, racing his pigeons, and his beloved dogs.
Mr. Geml is survived by his children John R. (Debbie) Geml, Michael (Tracey) Geml, Nancy (Ken) Kowalski, Patty Goodwin, and Sally Schoenebeck, a son-in-law James Hoover, grandchildren Jaimie, Amber, Justin, Jennifer, Richard, Alicia, Jordan, James, and Bailee, great grandchildren Alexa, James, Carissa, Miguel, and Madelyn. He was preceded in death by a daughter Linda Hoover.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Friday August 26, 2022, in the Gilbert Funeral Home, Algonac. Visitation 11:00 AM Friday until time of services. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Michigan Veterans Home, 47901 Sugarbush Rd., Chesterfield Twp., MI 48047.
