Laurie Bess Glied's Obituary
Laurie Bess Glied (née Studley), born November 6, 1934, passed away peacefully on July 31, 2026.
Laurie lived an amazing life filled with love, laughter, family, and a deep appreciation for the outdoors. She cherished every opportunity to spend time with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. One of her greatest joys was attending their sporting events, musicals, dance recitals, and any activity they were involved in. She was always their biggest supporter. She also loved cheering on the Detroit Lions and Detroit Tigers and rarely missed an opportunity to watch them play.
Laurie is lovingly survived by her daughters, Barbara Bischoff, Laurie Bischoff, and Jeanette (Tom) Radcliffe; her grandchildren, Grayson (Kerry), David (Jamie), Kelly (Zach), Janelle (Dave), Michael (Layli), and Shane (Gina); her siblings, George, Larry, and Tish; her beloved four-legged companion, Kohl; along with many cherished great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, the good daughter Lesley, extended family members, and dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Herb; her daughter, Kathy; her grandson, Scottie; and her sister, Ada.
Laurie enjoyed hunting and fishing and had a lifelong love of dogs. After the loss of her husband nearly 30 years ago, she was gifted a spirited Labrador Retriever named Holly. Holly needed a job, and together they rekindled Laurie’s passion for dog sports. Laurie enthusiastically participated in agility, rally, obedience, and conformation, hobbies she had enjoyed in her younger years. Through her dogs, she formed lasting friendships and created countless treasured memories and adventures.
Laurie worked for many years in a law office and later found another meaningful way to serve her community through therapy dog work. Alongside her faithful dog, Kohl, she volunteered at schools in Algonac and nursing homes, where children would read stories to Kohl, helping build their confidence and love of reading. It was work that brought Laurie great joy and touched the lives of many children while also bringing comfort to adults.
Laurie will be remembered for her kind heart, unwavering love for her family, her dedication to her dogs, and the friendships she made throughout her life. Her legacy of compassion, encouragement, and unconditional love will live on in all who knew her.
In accordance with Laurie’s wishes, there will be no services.
n lieu of flowers, those wishing to honor Laurie’s memory are invited to make a donation to the Blue Water Area Humane Society, a cause that reflected her lifelong love and compassion for animals.
