Leonard J. Pitrucelle's Obituary
SFC Leonard J. Pitrucelle, age 75, of Clay, Michigan passed away on April 12, 2023. Leonard was born to Leonard Sr. and Lila Hill (Edward), on April 15, 1947 in Highland Park Michigan. He was the oldest of five children and graduated from Algonac High School in 1966.
Leonard enlisted in the Army in 1967, beginning a lifelong career in the military which he took great pride in. He served his country for 27 years, stationed overseas for some of that time in Korea and Germany. Leonard’s time in the Army also allowed him the opportunity to see and experience much of the world. One memorable experience that he shared with his family was skiing the Swiss Alps. Apart from his military career, Leonard also enjoyed many hobbies such as woodworking, painting and creating stained glass art. Above all else, Leonard was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather (“Papa”), and uncle. He put others first and was always willing to offer a helping hand to anyone in need.
Leonard is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 47 years, Charlene; children, Jonathan (Erin) and Kimberly (Jes); grandchildren, Sadie and Della; brother Tom (Debbie); sisters, Shirley (Matt), and Ann (Bobby) along with many loving nieces, nephews and extended family.
He is preceded in death by his mother Lila (Ed), his father Leonard and sister, Gayle.
Leonard was truly the best of all of us and will be sorely missed.
A Celebration of Leonard’s life will be held from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. with Army military honors at 7:30 p.m. on Friday May 5th, 2023 at Young- Gilbert Funeral Home 1422 Michigan Street Algonac, Michigan 48001. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Leonard’s name to one of the many charities supporting a cure for cancer or the many causes supporting military veterans.
