Marie Annette Ohlert's Obituary
Marie Ohlert, 60, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 25, 2025 with family by her side. She was born on June 30, 1964 to the late Veronica (Libka) Ohlert and Vincent “Bernie” Ohlert Jr. Marie grew up in Warren, MI, graduating from Cousino High School in 1982, and continued to reside in Warren for the remainder of her life.
As a young adult, Marie began working as a bank teller at NBD Bank. Her loyalty continued for 30 years and included transitioning into what is now Chase Bank. During this time, Marie held multiple positions and assisted customers at many area branches.
In her personal life, Marie enjoyed spending summer with family and friends at the family cottage on Russell Island. During time there she enjoyed participating in the Islander activities and held a deep love for the Island community. Marie often used her time there to relax and read one of her many novels and was regularly seen with a book. She enjoyed watching her nieces and nephews grow up in the same family cottage she had and loved the time they spent together there.
Miss Ohlert is survived by her siblings, Vincent Bernard “Bernie” Ohlert Jr., Cheryl Ohlert Kopp, and Michael (Amy) Ohlert, nieces and nephews Justin Kopp, Julia Kopp, Daniel Kopp, Jade (Brent) Ohler-Lazzarino, Korben Mead, Genevive Mead, and Jenna (Alex) Kammer, a great nephew A.J. Kammerer.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Arrangements by the Young Gilbert Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Algonac, MI. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Russell Island Foundation (RIF).
