Michael David Rozelle's Obituary
Michael David Rozelle passed away peacefully on June 6, 2026, surrounded by those who loved him.
He was born on February 18, 1946, in Detroit. Mike was the beloved son of the late Frederick E. and Henrietta Rozelle. He grew up on Detroit’s scenic Harbor Island, and attended Assumption College Catholic High School before going on to complete his formal education at Western Michigan University. Post graduation, he chose a career in underground construction, and excelled at establishing himself as the owner of several local small businesses.
Mike was a remarkably kind, caring, soft-spoken man. Known for his warm smile and helping those in need, he possessed a quiet charm that made him a favorite among all who knew him. He truly brought joy to those fortunate enough to be in his company. Mike loved his family and friends, the beautiful St. Clair River, an occasional cold beer, and a Detroit Lions victory.
He is survived by his loving son, Matt (partner Jeanette Lukofsky), his cherished granddaughter, Lauren, and her mother, Robin; his sister, Claire Fernly; and a circle of nieces, nephews, lifelong friends, and extended family members who will deeply miss him. Mike was preceded in death by his parents and his dear brothers, Frederick B. Rozelle and Raymond Rozelle.
A funeral service will be on Saturday, June 13th at 6:00 p.m. at Young Gilber Funeral Home, 1422 Michigan St., Algonac, MI, 48001. Visiting hours will be from 3:00- 6:00 p.m. prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made in Mike’s honor to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
