Norman "Mick" Meldrum Sr.'s Obituary
Norman "Mick" Meldrum Sr., age 85, of Algonac, MI passed away peacefully August 4, 2022 surrounded by his family. He was born December 9, 1936 in Algonac to the late Henry J. and Phoebe M. (nee Baker) Meldrum. He married Barbara Ann Bouchard on February 23, 1957.
Mick was employed at Detroit Edison (DTE) for over 40 years. He enjoyed playing guitar and entertained at many local establishments for over 60 years of his life. He was an avid fisherman and had a great love for the St. Clair River. After his retiring, he spent his winter months for the last 25 years playing golf and guitar in AZ with many close friends. He had a great love for his family and friends and always enjoyed a good party. He was a devout Catholic and altar boy for 14 years. He will be dearly missed, but forever in our hearts.
Mr. Meldrum is survived by his loving wife of 65 years Barbara, children Norman "Mick" (Carrie) Meldrum Jr., Gary (Cheryl) Meldrum, Tom Meldrum, Colleen (Chuck) Johns Meldrum, and Chris (Dena) Meldrum, grandchildren Stephanie, Amy, Whitney, Jenna, Christian, Nicholas, Collin, and Phoebe, and 7 great grandchildren with 2 on the way, siblings Ted (the late Norene) Meldrum, and Nancy (Peter) Avers. He was preceded in death by siblings Agnes Livingston, Wilmer Meldrum, Bernice LaCroix, Karl Meldrum, Jerry Meldrum, Barbara Lee. Albert "Doe" Meldrum, Henry Meldrum, Harold Meldrum, Richard Meldrum, James Meldrum, and Betty Dubay.
A Celebration of Life will be held from 4:00 to 8:00 PM, with a Rosary service at 7:30 PM, Thursday August 11, 2022 in the Gilbert Funeral Home, Algonac. A Memorial Funeral Mass will be at 11:00 AM, with visitation at 10:30 AM, Friday August 12, 2022 in Our Lady on the River Parish St. Catherines Catholic Church, Algonac.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to the Algonac/Clay Township Historical Society or to the Algonac Lions Club.
