Patricia Welch's Obituary
Patricia Dare Welch
passed away on September 19, 2010. She was born January 30, 1931 in Chicago, Illinois. She was raised in Detroit and received her Bachelor and Masters degrees from Wayne State University. Pat worked as a speech and language pathologist in the East China Schools for 20 years and held several offices with the East China Education Association, a MEA local. Patricia served the city of Algonac as a city councilwoman. Pat was very proud of her work for the Democratic Party and other progressive causes. She loved the professional theatre, as well as the Algonac Community Theatre. Patricia was an avid jazz fan, dog lover and gardener.
Most of all, she loved her family and will be much missed by her daughter Kathie Blake and granddaughters, Deidre and Alexis Blake of Florida; daughter, Maureen Welch of Chicago,IL; daughter Beth Welch and son-in-law, Bob Jones, of Sawyer, MI; daughter Amy Welch-Monahu and son-in-law, Jason Monahu and granddaughters, Daisy and Lily Monahu of Berwyn, IL. She was much beloved by her granddaughter, Courtney Bablitz Chamberlin, her grandson-in-law, Ray Chamberlin and great-grandchildren, Mason and Mia Chamberlin of St. Clair. She is survived by her mother, Annie Maxwell of Clintondale and many close friends and colleagues.
A memorial service for Patricia will take place Friday, September 24, 2010 at 1:00 pm at the Gilbert Funeral Home 1422 Michigan, Algonac. Visitation Friday 12:00 PM until time of service.
