Richard Guy DeLange's Obituary
Richard Guy DeLange age 78 of Clay Twp., MI passed away November 19, 2025 in the McLaren Macomb Hospital. He was born May 26, 1947 in Detroit, MI to the late William and Virginia (nee LaBounty) DeLange. He married Susan Carol Slater on November 10, 1967 in Anchorville, MI.
Dick was a 1966 graduate of Algonac High School. He served with the US Navy aboard the USS Coral Sea (CVA 43) until 1968. He was a Clay Twp. Police Officer until 1985. He was a member and Past President of the Algonac Lions Club, and a member of Red Wings Alumni, Wertz Warriors-Michigan Winter Special Olympics, and a supporter of the Deaflympics. He was an avid fisherman, enjoyed sports, especially Hockey, Detroit Red Wings, Tigers, and Lions. He loved his family and grandchildren and had a great sense of humor- he loved to tell a good joke.
Mr. DeLange is survived by his wife Susan, sons Richard G. (Linda) DeLange and Jeffrey A. (Erika) DeLange, Brother William (Leslie) DeLange, sister-in-law Sara DeLange, sister-in-law and brother-in-law Roberta (nee Slater) and Timothy LeRoy, brothers-in-law Patrick Sauber, and John Macaluso, grandchildren Deanna, Edward, Kora, and Stewart. and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother Bob DeLange, sister Laura (Harpster-DeLange) Sauber, and sister-in-law Marilyn (nee Slater) Macaluso.
A celebration of life will be held from 1:00 to 4:00 PM, with a memorial service at 2:00 PM Friday December 5, 2025, at the Algonac Lions Club Hall, 1905 Mill St. Algonac, MI 48001. Arrangements by the Young Gilbert Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Algonac, MI.
