Robert Marklin's Obituary
Robert Marklin, age 83, of Algonac, passed away January 28, 2024. He was born July 5, 1940 in Detroit.
Robert was a graduate of Pershing High School. Following high school he proudly served with the U.S. Air Force. He later had a 17 year career with the Detroit Police Department, retiring in 1984. While serving with the Detroit Police Department he received the Purple Heart. Robert had a special talent as a ventriloquist. As a child, he once displayed his ventriloquism act on television. He was a longtime member of First Lutheran Church, Algonac. Robert was a supporter of Greyhound’s of Eastern Michigan. He and his wife, Bev, gave homes to 4 greyhounds over the years. Robert enjoyed traveling and went on many cruises over the years. At one time woodworking was a passion of Roberts and he always could be found working around his home. He always cherished the time he spent with his family and friends.
His family will remember him as a wonderful dad, grandpa and great papa. He will be dearly missed.
Robert is survived by his children, Cheryl (Michael) Devereaux and Jeff (Kathy) Schmidt; grandchildren, Christopher (Shannon) Dargaj, Jeffrey Dargaj, Nicole (Dan) Lin, Brandon Kodos, Beverly (Mario) Kodos, Cody Schmidt and Dylan Schmidt; great grandchildren, Tia Lin, Danika Lin, Mika Lin, Kaia Lin, Suvi Lin, Mady Dargaj, Wyatt Dargaj, Ava Dargaj, Sebastian Lo, Melody Lo, Niko Kodos and Evan Dekiere and brother, Jerry Marklin.
Robert was predeceased by his loving wife, Bev Marklin; and daughter, Cynthia Kodos.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 7th at 11:00 a.m. at First Lutheran Church, Algonac. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Marine City. Visiting hours are Wednesday from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the church prior to services.
