Robert Romano Monte's Obituary
Robert Romano Monte 95, of Algonac, MI passed away January 15, 2026 in his home. He was born August 31, 1930 in Detroit, MI to the late Giovanni and Vicenza (nee DiDuca) Monticelli. He married Barbara Ann Gustafson on June 25, 1949 in Bowling Green, OH.
Robert was a member of the K of C Council #856. A 75 year member of the Operating Engineers #324. He owned and operated several different construction companies throughout his life. He enjoyed playing senior softball in Florida and Michigan.
Mr. Monte is survived by his wife Barbara, children Rob (Cindy) Monte, Michael (Linda) Monte, John (Kim) Monte, and Suzanne (Michael) Tuson, grandchildren Bill (Wendy) O’Grady, Michael (Tiffany) Monte, Matthew Monte, Adam (Jennifer) Monte, John (Michelle)Monte, Tim (Jen) Monte, David Garza, Danielle Garza, Sabrina Tuson, and Gabielle Tuson, many great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by sisters Viola Olkowski and Esther Dagostini.
Mr. Monte will be instate at 10:30 AM, with mass at 11:00 AM, Tuesday January 20, 2026 in the Our Lady on the River Parish St. Catherines Catholic Church, Algonac. Visitation 4:00 to 8:00 PM Monday in the Young Gilbert Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Algonac, MI.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the donor’s choice.
