Sarah "Nanny" Rios' Obituary
Sarah "Nanny" Rios of Algonac passed away peacefully on January 8, 2026, at the age of 78. She was born on March 18, 1947 in Refugio, Texas, to the late Gregorio and Manuela Soliz.
Sarah was a loving mother to Benjamin Sr. (Nia) Rios, Elizabeth Rios, and Abundio II “Bug” (Shelley) Rios. She was a proud and devoted grandmother "Nanny" to Benjamin Jr. (Angie), Nickolas (Mallory), Brittany (Ryan) Maher, Jonathon Brockley, Alejandro, and Alma, and a cherished great-grandmother to Vanessa, Kattlya, Maya, Sophia, Jayden, Rosie, Layla, Lucy, Ariana, and Isaac.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Abundio “Bill” Rios, with whom she shared 60 wonderful years of marriage, and by her dear daughter, Frances.
Sarah is also survived by many brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, and a wide circle of treasured friends.
A devout Catholic, Sarah was an active member of St. Catherine’s Ladies Guild for many years. Her faith guided her life, but her greatest joy was found in time spent with her children, grandchildren, and the many friends she held close to her heart.
A Funeral Mass will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 13th at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church, 1103 Washington St, Algonac with a visitation prior beginning at 10:00 a.m. Processional will be immediately following to St. Catherine’s Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to St. Catherine’s Catholic Church in Sarah’s name is appreciated.
