Stephen Richard Lewis' Obituary
Stephen Richard Lewis, age 77, of Clay Twp., passed away November 15, 2023. He was born October 24, 1946 in Grosse Pointe Farms to the late Jack and Barbara Lewis. On September 7, 2016 Stephen married Cynthis Lewis.
Stephen attended Salesian High School, Detroit and graduated from East Detroit High School in 1964. He continued his education, earning his Master's Degree in Criminal Justice from Wayne State.
Stephen proudly served his country with the U.S. Army. He served in Vietnam from 1967-1968 reaching the rank of Sergeant. Stephen later joined the Detroit Police Department in 1970 and had a 17 year career. Following retirement from the police department, Stephen was a Federal Officer with Homeland Security, where he also had a full career.
Stephen loved horses, which he always had at least four different horses in his 25 year career caring for his horses. He was also active with the FOP Robert J. Christy Lodge #185, Algonac, serving as Vice President for many years.
He is survived by his wife, Cynthia Lewis; children, Joshua (Stacy) Lewis, Kay Marie Loftis-Lewis and Joy Mirch; grandchildren, Stefany Conrad, Aubrey Loftis-Lewis and James Loftis-Lewis.
Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life Open House and Memorial Dinner will be held Saturday, January 27, 2024 from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the Harvest Event Center, 6385 King Rd., Marine City, MI 48039.
