Sue Waeyaert's Obituary
Sue Waeyaert, age 66, of Algonac, passed away peacefully in the comfort of her own home on January 3, 2025 after a long illness. She was born on December 15, 1958 to the late Lee and Joan Waeyaert. Sue was a graduate of Lakeshore High School class of 1977. After high school, she went on to work as a clerk in the medical records department for Bi- County Hospital in Warren. Sue loved her job and everyone she worked with. She retired after 28 years of employment. Sue met Dennis Detloff in 1982, and they have been together every since. Her and Dennis enjoyed trips to the cabin in Cadillac, MI where they would go canoeing. Sue loved to fish, and the outdoors, especially the Autumns in Northern Michigan.
She is survived by her lifelong companion, Dennis Detloff; siblings, Gail Waeyaert, Lori Waeyaert, Lee (Sue) Waeyaert; nephew, Branden Waeyaert and niece, Paige Waeyaert.
Cremation has taken place with Young-Gilbert Funeral Home, Algonac. A celebration of life will take place at a later date. Memorials are suggested to the Council on Aging. To leave a message of comfort visit www.younggilbertfuneralhome.com
