Thomas Franklin Dixon's Obituary
Thomas Franklin Dixon passed away Saturday May 31, 2025 in the Michigan Veterans Home of Chesterfield, MI at the age of 95. Frank was born September 7, 1929 in Sunlight WV to the late Arthur G. and Mary Virginia (Bare) Dixon.
Dad had much joy growing up with his eleven siblings. They all worked hard and he always said they didn’t have much but always ate damn good and enjoyed each other’s company and what the earth had to give.
He joined the US Navy on November 13, 1950 and was honorably discharged in November of 1954. On May 24, 1955 he married the love of his life until the end Jewel Lee McMillion who passed away June 29, 2007.
Frank retired from the Chevrolet Forging plant in Hamtramck, MI. after working many years as a diesel mechanic.
Dad was truly a family man and a devoted husband to Jewel, and an excellent provider to his family, he was also a loving father and grandfather to his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. I believe dad just enjoyed life, a good joke, a conversation with most anyone he met. Dad also enjoyed deer hunting and was extremely proud of his 25 point buck he got in WV.
Dad loved fishing for walleye in the St. Clai River and in the winter perch fishing in Canada and also Anchor Bay.
Dad also enjoyed having a garden and working in the garden it was always beautiful.
Dad was a music lover, especially Bluegrass, Country, and Gospel! He would turn up the stereo so loud and would say I not only want to hear it I want to feel it!
Camping, golf, and a good campfire even his favorite meal squirrel and squirrel gravy, cornbread, and a mess of beans and dad always had lots of ice cream around the house and would proudly show anyone that care to see the many boxes in the garage freezer.
Dad was survived by his daughters Beverly (Craig) Roggeman of Algonac, and Vivian (John) Reichle of Cottrellville Twp., grandchildren Cassandra (Robert) Beauchamp Maechtle Julie (Eric) Reichle Frank, John (Caly) David Reichle, Jenna Reichle, Derek (Susie) Roggeman, and Kaitlin (Jason) Johnson, great grandchildren Carly, Landen, Layla, Reid, Blake, Blaine, Brady, Lucia, Grant, Brynn, and Alaina.
Dad was predeceased by his loving wife Jewel Lee, grandson Gary Thomas Beauchamp, and Danny Bryeans who was like a son to him.
Thanks Dad and Mom for the best childhood a kid could ask for and all the beautiful memories you both created for our entire family. We are happy you are both together again but at the same time we will always be missing you both.
In honor of our father, we would like to ask everyone to donate some time to the Michigan Veterans Home or an elderly neighbor, or just a stranger that you may meet that needs a helping hand or an ear to listen or a Great Big Hug, that would be the best gift ever.
Thanks! From all the Family of Thomas Franklin Dixon.
Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to the Young Gilbert Funeral Home, Algonac, MI.
