Deborah Gina DeGregorio's Obituary
Deborah Gina DeGregorio, lovingly known to most as “Debbie Gram,” passed away peacefully on December 30, 2024, surrounded by her cherished friends and family. She was 72 years old.
Debbie was born on October 15, 1952, in Detroit, Michigan, to Edgar "Buck" Wheeler and Margaret Wheeler. Debbie is survived by her devoted daughters, Tricia (Matt), Tonya (Nick), and Tarra (John). She was the proud grandmother of 10 grandchildren: Logan, Hayley, Leah, Evan, Jordan, Joey, Morgan, Becca, Landan, and Lennon, as well as three "bonus" grandchildren: Kaylin (Craig), Sam, and Sean. Her family was her greatest joy, and she never missed an opportunity to boast about their lives and accomplishments.
Debbie spent her life in the restaurant industry, beginning her journey working for her parent’s restaurants. In 1987, she moved her family to Fair Haven, Michigan, and in 1990 she opened “Buck’s Diner” a family-owned and operated business that became a local staple where she quickly became a beloved member of the community. Debbie sold Buck’s and retired in 2022, leaving behind a 32-year legacy of love, hard work, and family that resonated deeply with the community.
Her faithful and constant companion and absolute joy was her dog, "Bucky," who remained lovingly by her side until her final hours.
In 2023, Debbie moved to North Fort Myers, Florida, where she found happiness in the sunshine and made many new friends. Those who met Debbie described her as the sweetest lady they had ever encountered—a testament to her kind heart and generous spirit.
Debbie was a nurturer at heart, constantly caring for those she loved. She devoted herself to her parents in their later years, provided comfort to the elderly residents in her mother’s nursing home, and supported multiple friends who were ill. Her compassion and selflessness left a lasting impression on everyone she met.
Debbie’s impact on her community, both in Michigan and Florida, and the love she shared with her family and friends, will never be forgotten. She leaves behind a legacy of warmth, kindness, and love that will be cherished by all who knew her. Her heart will live on through her children and grandchildren.
A celebration of Debbie’s life will be held on Sunday, January 5th at the Algonac Lions Club 1905 Mill Street, Clay Township, MI 48001 from 1 - 6 pm. Eulogy and service at 3 pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Blue Water Hospice Home in Debbie’s honor. To leave a message of comfort visit www.younggilbertfuneralhome.com
