Helen I. Avers' Obituary
Helen Irene Avers, age 86, of Pearl Beach, died Saturday, March 22, 2025 at Orchard Grove Senior Living in Romeo after a short illness.
She was born September 11, 1938 in Three Rivers and had been an area resident for 58 years.
She married Roger W. Avers in 1960 at Trinity Methodist Church in Algonac.
Mrs. Avers was a graduate of Mendon High School and Western Michigan University with a B.S. degree in Speech Correction. Her instructor was Dr. Charles Van Riper who wrote the book on speech correction. She worked as a speech therapist and substitute teacher in Grant, Brown City, and Algonac.
She is survived by her husband; Roger, two sons; Douglas of Lapeer, Craig of Ispheming, and daughter; Julie of Chesterfield. She is also survived by her four grandchildren; Gavin, Grace, Gillian and Gabrielle McHugh.
Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Young-Gilbert Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Algonac. A private family memorial will take place at a later date.
