James A. Miller's Obituary
James A. Miller, age 97, of Harsens Island, passed away August 30, 2025. He was born July 12, 1928 in Detroit to the late Everhard and Eveline Miller.
He proudly served his country with the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
He married Carol Ann Cummins on November 17, 1956 in Detroit. She preceded him in death on November 10, 2021.
He was a member of Our Lady on the River Parish, St. Mark’s Catholic Church, Harsen Island for over 60 years. He was very active with the church, serving as an usher and was a member of the Men’s Guild.
He was very active with the Boy Scouts, he earned the rank of Eagle Scout and was involved in Scout leadership for over a half century and earned the prestigious Silver Beaver Award. Jim was also very involved with both Clay Twp. and St. Clair County government, serving on various boards and committees.
He was an avid duck hunter and he also enjoyed traveling with Carol upon their retirement.
Jim is survived by his children; Sandra (Donald) Reamsma, Janis (Richard) Ward, Stephen J. Miller and Paul (Rhonda) Miller.
He is also survived by his grandchildren; Brandi Bosman, Goldi Cameron, Ashely Ward, Katie Ward, Robert (Jessica) Reamsma, Elizabeth Stoll, Kellie Douglas, Thomas Reamsma, Austin Berna, Jacob Miller, Tara Hojnacki, Chad Hojnacki, Miles (Brandi) Hojnacki, along with
15 great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his brother; Thomas Miller.
Funeral mass with be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, September 8 at Our Lady on the River Parish, St. Mark’s Catholic Church, Harsens Island. Visiting hours will be Sunday, September 7 at Young-Gilbert Funeral Home, Algonac from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. & 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Monday at church from 10:30 to 11:00 a.m. prior to the mass.
