James John Wesoloski's Obituary
James John Wesoloski age 90 of Algonac, MI passed away November 18, 2023 surrounded by his family in the McLaren Port Huron Hospital. He was born October 15, 1933 in Vicksburg, MI to the late Ignace "Jim" and Eva "Mary" (nee Rapacz) Wesoloski. He married Josephine Mary Murphy on February 11, 1972 in Algonac, she passed away December 14, 2020.
Mr. Wesoloski graduated from Vicksburg High School in 1951. In 1953 he Joined the US Air Force and was discharged in 1957 as a Staff Sergeant. He then attended Western Michigan University where he graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education.
When James married Josephine, he not only gained a wife but also two daughters, Kelly and Jessie. Shortly after, they added a son Jim, and a little later they would open their home to their daughter of the heart Karen.
Mr. Wes dedicated his life to teaching at the Algonac High School for 33 years. His fellow teachers called him Wes and his students called him Mr. Wes. He was lovingly voted the seniors favorite teacher year after year. He was also known as Golden Voice of the Muskrats, and was voted into the Algonac Sports Hall of Fame for this title. His booming voice could be heard announcing football, basketball, wrestling, and track.
Mr Wes was a past member of the Algonac Lions Club, and the Algonac City Assessor Board of Review. In his younger years he was an avid golfer and enjoyed reading books, newspapers, and doing crossword puzzles. He was also very fond of watching sports and old westerns.
Mr. Wesoloski is survived by daughters Katherine "Kelly" (Erik) Parker and Mary "Jessie" (Edward) Panzcyk, son James "Jim" (Suzanne) Wesoloski, and his Daughter of the Heart Karen (Billy Burgett)Reynolds, siblings Elizabeth "BJ" Wesoloski, Louise "Lou Ann" (the late Michael) Ambro, Walt (Jane) Wesoloski, and Edward "Butch" (Karen) Wesoloski, He was a proud grandfather to Andrew Ruppel, Anna (Maurice "Mo") Livingston, and Nathan Wesoloski, grandchildren of the heart Daniel Hernandez and Gabriel Hernandez, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a grandson Jonathan Wesoloski.
Mr. Wesoloski will be instate at 10:30 AM, with mass at 11:00 AM, Saturday November 25, 2023 in the Our Lady of River Parish St. Catherines Catholic Church, Algonac. Visitation 2:00 to 8:00 PM Friday in the Young Gilbert Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc. Algonac. A family eulogy will be given at 6:00 PM, with a rosary being recited 6:30 PM Friday. Military honors will be rendered at 7:45 PM Friday.
