When I started to help at St. Catherine’s church as a Sacristan in 2020, Joann was the beautiful person who welcomed me with her joyful smile my first Sunday in service. I always loved seeing her when it was her Sunday to do the liturgical readings. Her voice was perfect for such a service and I found out one day when she started to sing a song as we were preparing for mass, that she had a beautiful singing voice as well- I would try to convince her to join the church choir, but she’d just smile and decline saying she felt being a reader was how God wanted her to use her talents. Her smile and laughter was infectious, and I will miss seeing and hearing it. I’m grateful for having known her. She was a beautiful soul and I pray she’s singing joyfully for our Lord now.
