Maurice DeMist Jr.'s Obituary
Maurice DeMist Jr. age 80, a lifelong resident of Marine City, MI. passed away Sunday July 25, 2021 in the family home, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born December 31, 1940 in Roseville, MI. to the late Maurice Sr. and Emma (Schenck) DeMist. He married Janet A. Kwasnik July 17, 1964 in Holy Cross Catholic Church Marine City.
Mr. DeMist was a U.S. Army Veteran. He was a retired interstate semi -truck driver having accumulated over 1 million accident-free miles and was a member of Local #1038. Maurice, being a comical story teller, enjoyed the turn of a wheel, whether a semi, Harley, or farm tractor.
Mr. DeMist is survived by his wife Janet, children Michelle (Dave Bortner) DeMist, Charlene (Dean) Polcyznski, and Karen (Tom) Reeves, grandchildren Kristopher (Alyssa) Lopp, Nicholas (Amanda Davis) Lopp, Thomas Reeves, Emalee (Cameron) Behem, and Clare Polczynski, a great granddaughter Erika Lopp, a sister, 2 brother, and many nieces and nephews.
In accordance with Maurice's wishes a private family service has been held. Arrangements by the Gilbert Funeral Home, Algonac, MI. Memorial donations may be made to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
