Robert "Bob" Poole's Obituary
Robert “Bob” Poole, age 97, of Algonac, passed away peacefully at Blue Water Hospice Home on August 16, 2024. He was born September 21,1926 in Algonac to the late R. Lee and Mattie Poole. Bob married Anita DeVera on June 5, 1948 and she preceded him in death on May 21, 2001.
Bob joined the military at the age of 17 first as a Merchant Marine where he was a boat pilot for 2 years during WWII, after those two years he re-enlisted with the U.S. Army after the war. When his service to the country was over Bob was Algonac’s 1st postal carrier delivering mail to the whole town, he did that for 30+ years before retiring. He loved hunting, fishing and knew all the honey holes in the river. He enjoyed fixing up arrows for bow hunters in his spare time and he was also a lifetime member of Algonac Church of Christ.
He is survived by his children, Greg (Wendy) Poole, Annette (Mark) Farr, 5 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren along with several nieces and nephews.
Bob is preceded in death by 9 brothers and sisters.
A memorial service will take place Sunday September 8, 2024 at 3:00 p.m. at Algonac Church of Christ. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Algonac Church of Christ. To leave a message of comfort visit www.younggilbertfuneralhome.com
