William Russell Burr, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 17, 2025, at the age of 73. Born and raised in Algonac, Michigan, Bill lived a life filled with love, strength in his actions and unwavering dedication to his family.
On February 19, 1983, Bill married the love of his life Anita L. Manglos in St. Clair County, Michigan. Their marriage was a true partnership, built on love, respect and together they created an unbreakable devotion to their children.
Bill dedicated his career to General Motors as a talented metal model maker, retiring in 2017. He took great pride in his work and cherished the opportunities it brought him especially in his later years, when he was able to travel with GM’s NASCAR team. His time at GM was more than just a job; it was a source of lifelong friendships and a career he was truly proud of—one that provided lasting comfort and security for his family.
Throughout his life, Bill found happiness in the simple pleasures. He enjoyed golf, bowling, baseball, and pool, but his greatest passion was fishing and boating in his cherished hometown of Algonac. He was also an active member of the Fair Haven Fraternal Order of Eagles (FOE), where he built lasting friendships and had the joy of reconnecting with many of his childhood friends.
After retirement, Bill and Anita moved to a home on the St. Clair River, where they spent countless peaceful hours watching freighters pass by—a favorite pastime that brought them great contentment. Their riverfront deck became a cherished gathering place, where they loved entertaining family and friends, sharing laughter and making memories by the water.
Bill is survived by his loving and devoted wife Anita and their children: Susan (Frank) Telles, Melissa (Matt) Schihl, Joshua (Tinesha) Burr, and Amy (Aaron) Huber. He was a proud grandfather to Corey, Nathan, Cade, Zeke, and Kiyla, who were the light of his life.
He will be remembered for his infectious laughter, carefree nature, his devotion to family, and the joy he brought to those around him. His legacy lives on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
